Day 65 2026 USA Bike Tour

Day 65 What a wild, beautiful, and chaotic ride for Day 65 of our USA Cycling Tour! We left Cascade Locks a bit late at 9:30 AM, rolled past the iconic Bridge of the Gods, and immediately hit a major roadblock. The cycling path was completely closed due to heavy construction equipment, forcing us right back onto the shoulder of Interstate 84 for 3 intense miles! Thankfully, we escaped the highway onto a paved path—it was pretty bumpy, but we were just happy to be away from the traffic! From there, the ride turned into pure magic. We spent the day cycling through stunning, moss-covered forests and chasing legendary waterfalls along the Historic Columbia River Highway. We saw every single waterfall along the way, including the beautiful Wahkeena Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. The ultimate highlight was stopping at the world-famous Multnomah Falls, where we walked up to the iconic stone bridge (Benson Bridge) to get incredible close-up views and video footage! We also pushed up to the historic Vista House for some of the most breathtaking panoramic views of the entire trip. The final stretch into North Portland threw some challenges our way. While the path along the Columbia River was beautiful, it kept transitioning back and forth across the road. As the path dropped off completely, we had to navigate regular city streets during a chaotic 5:00 PM Friday rush hour with some very unfriendly drivers. It took us nearly 8 hours to finish the 46-mile trek, but we made it safe and sound! We celebrated the end of an incredible day by crushing some well-deserved pizza and pasta at Dough Boyz Pizzatopia, topped it off with ice cream cones, and crashed hard to prep for our upcoming rest day.
