● कौन था वह व्यक्ति ? ● ------------------------------- "1883 ई. का दीपावली का दिवस। अजमेर नगरी की भिनाय कोठी के कमरे के कक्ष में शय्या पर लेटा एक व्यक्ति जीवन की अन्तिम श्वासों से संघर्ष कर रहा था। वह व्यक्ति तूफानों से जूझते-जूझते स्वयं एक तूफान हो गया था। सहस्रों वर्षों की रूढ़ियों और अन्धविश्वासों से ग्रस्त मानवता को संजीवित करने के लिए उसने एक थपेड़ दी। जनता तिलमिला उठी। निद्रा से मूर्च्छित-सा पड़ा जन समूह नींद से जगाने वाले के प्रति तीखी आँखों से देखने लगा। सब उसके विरोधी हो गए - देशी भी, विदेशी भी, अपने भी और पराए भी, आस्तिक भी और नास्तिक भी। सबने मिलकर षड्यन्त्र रचा। वे पहचान न पाए उस व्यक्ति को जो उनके लिए ही जूझा था। वह अकेला था, भगवान ही उसका भरोसा था। विष के घातक प्रभाव से त्रस्त शरीर इस योग्य नहीं रह गया था कि वह अब इससे काम ले सके। 'ईश्वर तेरी इच्छा पूर्ण हो' - ऐसा कहकर इसने प्रभु का स्मरण किया। चेहरे पर हल्की सी सन्तोष की मुस्कराहट आयी, और वह चल बसा। जो कुछ कर सका उसने किया । वह व्यक्ति था - दयानन्द।" डॉ. स्वामी सत्यप्रकाश सरस्वती ('ऋषि दयानन्द जैसा मैंने समझा', पृष्ठ 4-5) ● Who Was That Person? ● ------------------------------------------- “It was the day of Diwali in 1883. In a room at Bhinai Kothi (Bungalow) in Ajmer, a man lay on a bed, struggling through the final breaths of his life. He had battled countless storms, until he himself became a storm. To breathe new life into a humanity weighed down by thousands of years of rigid traditions and superstition, he struck it with a powerful blow. The people recoiled. The masses, as though awakened from a deep stupor, began to look upon the one who had tried to awaken them with angry eyes. Everyone turned against him—Indians and foreigners alike, his own people as well as outsiders, believers and atheists alike. Together, they conspired against him. They failed to recognize the man who had fought for their own sake. He stood alone. God alone was his support. Ravaged by the deadly effects of poison, his body was no longer capable of serving him. “O God, may Your will be fulfilled”—with these words, he remembered the Almighty. A faint smile of contentment appeared on his face, and he passed away. He had done all that he could.
