First appearance? Key. First cover? Key. New costume? Key. Cameo? Key. Minor event nobody cared about until a movie rumor appeared online? Somehow… also a key. We've diluted the term so much that it's becoming difficult to distinguish genuinely important comics from books experiencing temporary hype. In this episode of Slabbed Portfolios, we're talking about what should actually make a comic book a key, the difference between major keys, minor keys and speculative books, and why calling everything a key can lead collectors—especially newer collectors—into some terrible buying decisions.
