Samoa: Where A Day Just Disappeared From The Calendar | Peace Boat's Last International Port

After crossing the International Date Line and losing an entire day at sea, we sail into independent Samoa — our last international port before the long return to Japan. There was a lecture on human trafficking in Japan, a talk on the 3,000-year-old tradition of Fa'a Samoa, and a rain-soaked walk past thundering waterfalls. The day ends at the To Sua Trench, a 30-meter volcanic swimming hole so striking it became the most memorable sight of Samoa for me.
