Sprinter ‘Do Not Shift Gears’ Warning – EZS Failure Diagnosis & Fix

Welcome to Only Vans! I’m Trevor, lead Sprinter Tech (@OnlyVansMB). In this video, I’m showing the replacement process of the EZS (Electronic ignition switch) control unit due to water intrusion that causes a list of faults including the inability to shift out of park and a finicky stop/start button or in extreme cases no power to anything mimicing a dead battery. This repair does require the dealer to properly program and is only covered under warranty if a leak is a manufacture defect and within the 3 year/36k mile new vehicle limited warranty (NVLW) or the vehicle has an Extended Limited Warranty (ELW) this case the leak was caused by the windshield installer and they tore the body seam seal during glass removal. In the video i let the damaged control unit sit inside the shop for several days while waiting for the new one to arrive and it was actually helpful in restoring function enough to drive the vehicle into the shop. worth a try in a pinch if you find water intrusion and still have some function like you see in the beginning of this video.
