The nor'easter that began flooding the North Carolina coast on September 25, 2026 has left North Carolina Highway 12, the only road on Hatteras Island, under water again. Dare County declared a state of emergency for the island after extensive damage to the highway. Coastal flood warnings and wind advisories stretched from North Carolina to Maryland, and New York and New Jersey declared states of emergency. Tens of millions of people were in the storm's path. At 11 a.m., just over 68,000 customers were without power in New Jersey, and dozens of people were rescued from vehicles or evacuated from homes. Since 2020, 32 homes have collapsed at Cape Hatteras. In this video, we examine the flooding on Hatteras Island, the power outages and rescues from New Jersey to New England, and what the storm has left behind. This channel covers natural disasters and extreme weather events as they develop, using sourced reporting and avoiding unsupported speculation.
