I left a job I loved after 8 years.
No bad boss.
No toxic workplace.
No burnout.
No reason that made the decision easy.
I had just been promoted, built a strong reputation, earned the trust of my colleagues, and was doing work that genuinely mattered to me.
So why did I leave?
Because sometimes the hardest decisions aren't between something good and something bad. Sometimes they're between something good and something unknown.
After 8 years at Alcon, I made the difficult decision to leave and accept a new opportunity with another medical device company—one that would require my family and me to move to Houston.
I prayed. I fasted. I sought wise counsel. I counted the cost. And eventually, I had to trust God enough to take the step.
In this video, I share what went into that decision, what it felt like to leave behind 8 years of relationships and memories, and what I'm learning about faith, calculated risk, comfort, and trusting God when you don't know what's next.
If you're standing at a crossroads in your own life, I hope this reminds you:
Engineering your life doesn't mean eliminating risk. It means understanding the risk, gathering the information, seeking wisdom, counting the cost, praying—and then having the courage to move.
The unknown is scary.
But what's even scarier is staying in the known for years and constantly wondering:
What if I had actually taken the risk?”
Here's to a new beginning. 🙏🏾
