Teenage Wildlife - Kirk Balk Tales Filmed by John Slemenseck | Studio Bokehgo, 2026 Teenage Wildlife is an oral history project from Barnsley Civic, collecting and celebrating stories of Barnsley youth culture and teenage experience over 80 years. The project started life in 2021 with stories and photographs being collected from the Eldon Street area of central Barnsley. Out of that project came exhibitions, publications including poetry and magazines, and an original piece of young person led theatre in 2022. Since then, we have worked with drama students from Netherwood Academy, Horizon Community College, and this year Kirk Balk Academy, to bring to life stories from former students. Working alongside talented drama practitioners Becky Newbould and Gemma Whelan (collectively known as We Great Ladies), this performance brings to life the stories of students Maureen, Jenny, Julie, Mark, Sandra, Scott and Susanna, following four months of drama workshops.
