This was LeBron’s most anticipated revenge game ever! The Mavs gave James the biggest embarrassment of his career in 2011. He joined a superteam… They rolled on their way to the finals… Took a 2-1 lead in the series… But then, had to mock Nowitzki’s fewer and lost the title in 6 games… The worst part is that James averaged less than 18 points and 4 turnovers per game. Let’s just say it was the biggest choke job of his career… So, in a delayed start of the 2011-12 season, the Heat were in Dallas for opening night on the 25th of December. The Mavs raised their championship banner and celebrated right in front of Bron who must’ve been fuming inside. So, eager to start his revenge, James put on his Grinch uniform and went to steal Christmas. LeBron wasn’t settling for outside shots, he wanted to impose his presence inside the paint first. Backing down Carter, he got the and-1 to drop. On this play, after the miss by Norris Cole, James gets the offensive board between 3 defenders and draws the foul. He got busy early, creating open shots for his teammates and playing rock solid defense as well. During the Finals, LeBron was heavily criticized for taking 20 free throws total and making only 60% of them. Well, he put his head down and got fouled time and time again, shooting 15 of 19 from the line in this one. Talking about making a statement. And D-Wade joined the revenge party in the 2nd quarter as well. The Flash was considered the best shot blocker among shooting guards, and here’s why. The Heat were flying up and down the court. And already up by 20 points in the 2nd quarter, James was trying out new things. After a made 3 by the Mavs, look at how lightning fast LeBron goes coast to coast, outrunning everybody to draw another foul. So, up by 21 points at the half, while being drenched in sweat, I’ve never seen him so serious. Okay, the reporter drew a little smile at the end, but when the game continued he was right back in his killer mode. Speaking of laser sharp, from the moment he striped Marion’s layup here and took the ball out in transition, it was certain he’ll do something special. And if you thought that was special, you’re gonna be blown away by the next one. That was one of the best plays of their entire season! James was doing everything in this one, including taking charges, which actually got Lamar Odom thrown out of his first game as a Maverick. The Heat got up by 35 points, and from that point on it just wasn’t fair anymore… LeBron scored 15 of his 37 points in the 3rd quarter on 58% efficiency, to go along with 10 rebounds, 6 assists and a pair of blocks and steals. And look at him playing bullyball on his former teammate Delonte, that’s barbecue chicken. At the end the final score wasn’t telling the whole truth, as the Mavs bench was able to narrow the gap to just 11 points in garbage time. Asked about having extra motivation for this one, James said this. I guess losing in the most embarrassing way possible in 2011, took the best out of LeBron, who dominated the next two seasons from start to finish. He won back-to-back MVP’s and led the Heat to a couple of championships in 2012 and 2013. The following year however, he experienced the emergence of the baby-faced assassin first hand, as Steph Curry came to town and destroyed the Heatles all by himself. I made a detailed video about that game and you gotta check it out. Click right here and I’ll talk to you in the next one, peace out.
