Track 01 of the Forgotten Fables album, stories brought back to life.
WHERE THE RIVER LEADS
Where the river leads, I will follow,
Through the valleys carved in stone.
Past the cottonwood and willow,
Far beyond the lands I've known.
Morning mist upon Missouri,
Golden prairie, endless sky.
Every bend becomes a story,
Every eagle passing by.
She knows the language of the mountains,
She knows the rhythm of the streams.
Reads the earth like constellations,
Carries westward all their dreams.
Where the river leads,
She will show the way.
Through the open plains,
To the mountains far away.
Where the wild winds breathe,
And the western waters gleam,
She becomes the compass
To an undiscovered dream.
Sacagawea...
Where the river leads.
Sacagawea...
Follow where she leads.
With her child beside her heartbeat,
Through the thunder, through the rain,
She walks softly through the tall grass,
Where no map could name the way.
When the strangers meet her people,
Old remembered voices rise.
Horses carry them through mountains,
Toward the distant western skies.
Not with conquest, not with glory,
But with knowledge in her hands.
Every root and trail a story,
Every river knows the land.
Where the river leads,
She will show the way.
Through the open plains,
To the mountains far away.
Where the wild winds breathe,
And the western waters gleam,
She becomes the compass
To an undiscovered dream.
Sacagawea...
Where the river leads.
Sacagawea...
Follow where she leads.
Over ridges white with winter,
Down through valleys washed in gold.
Past the peaks that pierce the heavens,
Toward an ocean yet untold.
Stars above become the signposts,
Rivers carve the road below.
Every mile becomes a memory,
Every current whispers home.
She was never just a shadow
Walking somewhere in between.
She became a bridge between them,
Between the known and unseen.
Where the river leads,
She will show the way.
Through the open plains,
To the mountains far away.
Where the wild winds breathe,
And the western waters gleam,
She becomes the compass
To an undiscovered dream.
Where the river leads...
Across the land she knew.
Where the river leads...
They followed safely through.
Sacagawea...
Beneath the boundless sky.
Sacagawea...
Her name will never die.
And where the rivers wander westward,
Where the mountain waters gleam,
There remains the quiet compass
Of an undiscovered dream.
