Here I am in truck 440 running route 4 a few Mondays ago. On this day, the automatic packing system (auto pack) was not working properly. The packer blade would extend to sweep the trash back into the load body but then wouldn’t retract back home like it’s supposed to. The display in the cab and the “packed out” light would come on even though it was not packed out. When this would happen, I had to reset the PTO and manually retract the packer blade. I then would manually extend and retract the blade to push the trash back after dumping a few cans or whenever the hopper well appeared to be full. I believe one of the sensors went bad and needed to be replaced. Luckily for me, this issue was bearable and something I was able to work with. Sometimes as a trash truck driver, you’ll find little problems wrong with the truck that you can still work with safely as long as you take it to the repair shop at the end of the day. I did just that after I finished the route and after I went to the dump. Anyways, please enjoy the video and thank you for watching!
