The area from Flåm to Aurland is one of Western Norway's biggest tourist magnets. Flåmsbana from Flåm to Myrdal is the base for their cruise harbour. Neighbouring Aurland has this spectacular road going straight into the high mountains. This is why it has been designated as a national tourist road. Note that it is still just a common, Norwegian one lane road and busses and RVs tend to block it all the time in summer - to a complete standstill. If you want to drive here, try to get to this road very early or very late in the day. It's prettier, too, when the sun is at an angle. The MSC cruise ship, being the largest polluter within a radius of 50 miles, is absolutely hilarious with its #SaveTheSeas painted all over it, though...
