SAYO Threatens Strong Retaliation After Bordumsa Violence, Warns Chakma-Hajong Settlers Over Rising Aggression ITANAGAR, September 5, 2026: In a vehement reaction to the violent clashes reported in the Bordumsa-Diyun area of Changlang District, the Save Arunachal Youth Organization (SAYO) has delivered an uncompromising warning to the Chakma-Hajong settler community, threatening decisive retaliation if aggressive acts against indigenous student representatives do not cease immediately. Addressing the media in the state capital, SAYO President Pungte Balang Sonam condemned the alleged assault on members of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU), declaring that any attempt to intimidate the apex indigenous student body will be met with staunch collective resistance. Reminding the settlers that they were granted refuge on humanitarian grounds, Sonam warned that guests must never attempt to act as masters of the territory. He cautioned that while the indigenous populace has maintained immense tolerance, violent confrontations—escalating from bladed weapons to threats of firearms—cross a dangerous red line that indigenous youth will not permit, urging people across every village, colony, and district to set aside internal differences and prepare for a decisive stand. Backing this stern position, SAYO General Secretary Bikash Mrri Dodum highlighted historical precedents across the Northeast, warning that states like Tripura and Assam had suffered severe demographic shifts when refugee influxes were ignored. Dodum asserted that SAYO volunteers are fully prepared to face any eventuality declaring readiness to put their lives on the line to safeguard indigenous land and demography. Calling upon social activists, media professionals, and community leaders across all 28 districts to assemble at the Dorjee Khandu State Convention Centre on September 12, the organization reaffirmed its complete backing of whatever course of action AAPSU resolves to undertake.
