Was the Trojan War real? In this ancient history documentary, we examine the Trojan Horse, the ruins of Troy and Hittite records to ask what archaeology can tell us about Homer's famous war.
Did the Trojan War really happen? We follow Heinrich Schliemann's excavations, the so-called Priam's treasure, the layers of Troy and a diplomatic dispute over Wilusa. A real city does not prove the wooden horse or a ten-year siege: we separate ancient stories, archaeological evidence and interpretations that remain debated.
Subscribe to Civilizations & Curiosities for more history explored through the evidence. Which clue surprised you most: the end of the Iliad, the age of the treasure, or the letter about Wilusa?
