Baghdad, Iraqi national day | Iraq 2026 🇮🇶

The Iraqi National Day is a day that was proposed in 2008 to be made a national day on October 3 , to celebrate the day of Iraq’s declaration of independence from the British Mandate and its accession to the League of Nations . That independence was on October 3 , 1932. However, the Iraqi governments did not make that day a national holiday after the July 14 Revolution coup in 1958 until April 9 , 2003, when the American occupation took place. It was then proposed that the occupation day be a national day to celebrate Iraq’s liberation from the rule of the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party, but this proposal was rejected by the people with widespread objections, and some opinions tended to commemorate Independence Day, October 3, and make it a national holiday. It was decided in February 2008 to make October 3 a national holiday, but that decision was not implemented until September 2020 after the Iraqi government issued a law related to the national holiday
