Why is caring so embarrassing?

Why do we become so afraid of looking ridiculous, failing in public or being judged by other people? As I approach 50 and start putting myself out there on YouTube, I've been thinking about confidence in midlife, our fear of failure and embarrassment and why starting something new can feel so much harder when we're older. In this video, I talk about overcoming the fear of what other people think, the pressure to appear effortlessly successful, why we label people and behaviour as 'cringe' and how fear of judgement can gradually make us shrink ourselves and our lives. From childhood bullying and wanting to fit in to social media, ageing and finding the confidence to be yourself, this is about embracing imperfection, being willing to fail and choosing to create, speak up and live more authentically rather than letting fear keep you small.
