Welcome to Garden Nature Life and a peaceful autumn day in the quiet mountain valley, where life moves at the gentle rhythm of nature and the changing seasons.
In today's episode, we spend a calm morning in the orchard and vegetable garden gathering an abundant autumn harvest. The mature fruit trees are bowed low with ripe red apples, golden pears, deep purple plums, quinces, damsons, figs, and ripening walnuts. In the garden beds, we harvest fresh carrots, cabbages, runner beans, beetroot, and heavy orange squash before bringing the woven baskets back to the cottage kitchen.
Inside the warm kitchen, we prepare a comforting traditional autumn meal: whole cored apples filled with melted golden honey, aromatic cinnamon, and cloves, baked slowly inside the cast-iron wood-burning range and served with fresh cream. As the afternoon light turns golden, we take a quiet walk along the hillside path overlooking the valley, and end our day resting peacefully by the glowing hearth fire under a starlit night sky.
🌿 Wildlife & Nature Observation in This Episode:
Our garden, orchard, and surrounding meadows are a shared sanctuary for many wild creatures. Throughout the day, we quietly observe and appreciate the local wildlife from a respectful distance without disturbing or harming their natural way of life:
Birds of the Valley & Orchard: Watch for the robin warming its feathers on the stone wall, the tiny wren moving along the hedge base, the grey wagtail bobbing on garden stones, the colourful goldfinch feeding on meadow thistles, the wood pigeon and jay among the tree canopies, the kestrel hovering still above the hillside, the buzzard resting on the fence post, the raven crossing the afternoon sky, and the owl calling softly from the moonlit orchard at night.
Mammals & Pollinators: Look closely for the shy hedgehog walking along the early morning hedge, the wild hare pausing at the edge of the meadow, the gentle draft horses grazing in the pasture, and late-season pollinators including bumblebees, hoverflies, common blue butterflies, small tortoiseshell butterflies, and evening moths.
Sit back, relax on your television or screen, and enjoy the soothing natural sounds of simple country living.
