Final segment dedicated to my friend Polat (31:52) Symphony No. 2 in D Major Op. 73 of Johannes Brahms. I. Allegro non troppo. (00:14) Brahms composed his second symphony in less time unlike the first one. The environment of the symphony is more lyric and quiet unlike the dramatic and dense first one. The premiere in Vienna in 1877 was a great success. Musical critics have called the symphony "Pastoral" and often compare it with Beethoven's Pastoral symphony with the difference between both, Beethoven symphony describes pastoral scenes, Brahms does not. Second movement of the symphony. Adagio non troppo. L'istesso tempo, ma grazioso.(15:21) A quiet and nostalgic page. In the video, it appears two important persons in the life of Brahms: Robert Schumann friend and teacher and Clara Schumann the wife of Robert, composer and pianist, close friend of Brahms. At the end of the movement, there is a portrait of Brahms mature. Third movement. Allegretto grazioso (Quasi andantino). Presto ma non assai. (26:02) This is the "scherzo" of the symphony in G Major key. As usual in Brahms symphonies we listen a moderate scherzo with melodious episodes, passing by optimistic moments. In the video, images that appear are as follows: A cartoon of Brahms young, a cartoon of Karl Böhm (1894-1981) and a photo of himself. Finale: Allegro con spirito. (31:52) Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Karl Böhm, conductor.
