Dave Mustaine: Cancer, Cliff Burton & Why Megadeth Is Saying Goodbye

Megadeth founder and frontman Dave Mustaine returns to talk about his new book, In My Darkest Hour: A Memoir, and the cancer diagnosis that changed his life. He shares how aching teeth led to the discovery of cancer, the brutal realities of radiation treatment, how it affected his singing, and why he insisted on including his family, doctors, and bandmates’ side of the story in his latest New York Times bestseller. Dave also remembers his friendship with Cliff Burton, and reveals how Cliff’s love of Lynyrd Skynyrd indirectly influenced Dave’s guitar solo on “The Four Horsemen.” Plus, he breaks down the making of his legendary “Holy Wars” solo, talks about songwriting, riffs, Megadeth’s new generation of fans, how an ongoing issue with his hand factored into his decision to make this Megadeth’s final tour, and the meaning behind the Argentinian chant that follows the band around the world.
