“There Is Something on Your Mind” (Bobby Marchan)- Bobby Cure & the Poppa Stoppas New Orleans band

Bandleader and singing drummer Bobby Cure leads his Poppa Stoppas New Orleans rhythm and blues oldies band in covering the legendary vocalist Bobby Marchan’s 1960 slow-burn soul classic and smash hit on the Fire label titled “There Is Something on Your Mind” (originally recorded in 1959 by sax titan Big Jay McNeely with Little Sonny Warner on vocals) live at Feaux Meaux nightclub in the Metairie, Louisiana, suburb in September 2026. Marchan sang lead and backup vocals for Huey “Piano” Smith and the Clowns and later became a pioneer promoter of the then-burgeoning rap-music world in and around New Orleans. The band here includes Cure, keyboardist Greg Villafranco, bassist Al Arthur, and guests Johnny Pennino on tenor saxophone and WWOZ DJ Neil Pellegrin on guitar.
