Join me for a late evening high-tide sea fishing session down at Pevensey Bay, East Sussex on October 11, 2026. In this vlog, I meet up with Steve as we analyze the changing beach structures, washed-away sand, and bouldery gullies right from the start. We discuss rods—including some Century and Zziplex blanks—before I break down my custom rig and bait strategies. I'm fishing the last three hours of the flood tide, primarily relying on my favorite Portsmouth (Amnesia loop) rigs, pulley rigs with Dongle setups, and small 12-inch snoods. The bait menu features dirty squid and fresh lugworm cocktails. The conditions bring rain, flat seas, and surprisingly mild temperatures, making for a challenging session where a change of tactics is required. Watch as I scale down hook sizes and snood lengths to scratch out some species. Despite the tough going, the session yields some strap eels, a dogfish, and a couple of Dover sole—proving that scaling down and adapting to the conditions can save a session from being a blank! *Gear & Rigs Mentioned:* • Portsmouth Loop Rigs (varying snoods and size 1 to 2/0 hooks) • Pulley Rigs & Pulley Pennels (Varivas 3/0 hooks & Nordic bends) • Bait: Fresh Lugworm, Dirty Squid, Sandeel • Cameras used: DJI Osmo Pocket 3 & DJI Action 4 (fighting the rain!) *Session Conditions:* • Wind: Southern, 0-12mph • Temp: 18 to 12 degrees • Tide: 1:20am High tide at 7.1m #PevenseyBay #BeachFishing #UKFishing #DoverSole *Timestamped Chapters:* 00:00 - Arriving at Pevensey Bay & Inspecting the Beach Gullies 01:00 - Discussing Rod Blanks (Zziplex & Century) with Steve 02:30 - Rig Talk: Portsmouth Rigs & Hook Sizes 05:00 - Session Plan, Target Species & Pulley Pennels 08:08 - Preparing Baits: Fresh Lugworm & Squid Cocktails 11:33 - First Cast of the Session 15:52 - Casting Updates & Feeling the Lead 20:19 - Tide Pushing In & Bait Checks 21:32 - Heavy Rain & Camera Protection (DJI Pocket 3 & Action 4) 23:02 - First Fish!
