After a fantastic week in Fuerteventura, it was time to travel home. On-board a brand new Airbus A320-214 which left the factory just two weeks prior to this flight taking place. We had the new seat options, which are much smaller than previous designs but more comfortable in my opinion. I am sure others will disagree. On-board EZY8536 from Fuerteventura to London Gatwick on Wednesday 24th July 2013. The flight was delayed by 50 minutes due to passenger boarding problems at London Gatwick. We finally departed runway 01R at 12:05PM (WEST), made a right turn and headed north, passing the coast of Portugal (Lisbon/Porto), Spain and finally over Northern France before landing at Gatwick. We climbed to 36,000 feet reaching 443kt (510 mph). We circled the South Coast of Great Britain for 30 minutes, waiting for 'essential maintenance work' to be carried out on the runway lights at Gatwick. I was hoping for a diversion, but we eventually landed an hour behind schedule. It was a beautiful afternoon in the UK for once.
