In this video we will repair several oil leaks from the 6.5L diesel engine turbocharger oil drain tube assembly by replacing the coupling hose and all of the gaskets. These turbo oil drains leaking are a fairly common problem with the original 6.5L turbo GM design and while there are aftermarket alternatives, we will be keeping it all genuine GM here. I unnecessarily put this repair off for years out of a, now known as unwarranted, concern of corrosion weakening the upper two 10mm fasteners attached to the turbocharger. The vehicle shown is a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban K1500 LT. But the procedure is applicable to any 6.5L diesel engine equipped truck, GMT400 or OBS (old body style) in particular. NOTE: The working space for this repair is extremely limited. Your range of motion will be restricted and the need to improvise and access to a broad range of tools of varying lengths to account for these conditions is required to complete the repair. The eBay and Amazon search links below are paid links, for which I may be compensated and earn a commission, if you choose to buy the parts and tools shown in this video thru them: If you are looking for any of the three parts I showed in the video (upper drain tube gasket GM 14098654, lower drain tube flange gasket GM 12560223, drain tube hose coupler GM 10149660): https://ebay.us/zsww1g If you are looking for the GM C/K service manual I was using: https://ebay.us/36uhA7 Craftsman stubby wrench type I used in the video: https://ebay.us/4fl5YJ And if I've saved you some $$ here, consider some coins for the coffee tip-jar! https://ko-fi.com/drshock 1994 1995 1996 1997 1998 1999 2000 2001 2002 Chevrolet Holden GMC Silverado Sierra Cheyenne Tahoe Suburban Yukon 1500 2500 3500 Chapters 0:00 - Problem Overview 0:46 - Turbo area preparation 1:25 - Removing outboard 10mm turbo bolt 2:39 - Removing inboard 10mm turbo bolt 6:28 - Lower flange location 8:14 - Disassembly overview 9:43 - Replacement part numbers 11:40 - Remove lower hose clamps 13:00 - Remove lower 10mm flange bolts 15:29 - Remove upper 14mm flange bolts 17:48 - Removing flange assembly #drshock #dieselsuburban #chevytrucks #65diesel Disclaimer: DrShock, the alias for the human content creator for this YouTube channel, is not responsible for any damages, injuries, losses, or liabilities associated with any repairs, upgrades, or maintenance performed on yours, or any other, vehicle whatsoever.
