This is a song I wrote. It is from the perspective of the disciple Thomas. I really feel for him sometimes. He walked with Jesus for three years in his ministry, and as far as we know, he fully believed that he was the son of God. From everything he heard, he believed he would be the new king, and there would probably be a war, and he would probably reign over them. (Or so said the pharisees). I can’t imagine how he felt when Jesus d*ed. The man that he trusted to be the eternal king was gone forever. I feel like from there, he kind of spiraled and just pushed away the truth because he was grieving so much! Instead of facing the facts and looking back at what Jesus had told him, he doubted. Eventually, of course, he regained his faith given that Jesus was alive and came back for eternity! But in that brief moment of doubt, this is what I think Thomas may have felt like, or thought about. “So Show Me”- Tori. Lyrics: You believe the king’s alive and I believe they ki**ed him on that skull. I can’t believe that he’s the Christ, until I see those bl** ding holes! I saw them crucify him right there on that tree and I am petrified. I can’t close my eyes now when I sleep. I dreaded the days, cause he’s away. I dreaded the days, cause I can’t speak. I saw him crucified up there on that tree! You tell me he’s alive; Well, I don’t doubt what I see. So show me his face I’ve lost all faith. Show me his wounds. Oh, I want it so bad, but I don’t know if it’s true. Is there an empty tomb? You’re able to wait patiently, and all that I am able to is mourn. He told us he would reign, but I was thinking there would be a war. He gave up easily, I don’t know if I can claim him God. You say he’s coming back. All I know’s that, one of us is wrong. I saw him crucified up there on that tree! You tell me he’s alive. Well, I don’t doubt what I see. So show me his face, I’ve lost all faith. Show me his wounds. Oh, I want it so bad but I don’t know if it’s true! Show me his face, I’ve lost all faith. Show me his wounds. Oh, I want it so bad, but I don’t know if it’s true! Is there an empty tomb? He could’ve been a profit, who called himself Jesus. Because if there was a God, well I just don’t think he would leave us. I’m broken! I believed him! I’m lost and I just need him! but if the tomb is open, I won’t believe it till I see him. I saw him crucified up there on that tree! You tell me he’s alive. Well, I don’t doubt what I see. So show me his face, I’ve lost all faith. Show me his wounds. Oh, I want it so bad, but I don’t know if it’s true! We’re up in the room. We’re waiting inside. Alive, alive, my God is alive? Alive. Alive! My God is alive! I saw him crucified; up there on that tree! He’s alive, standing next to me! He showed me his face; Restored my faith. He showed me his wounds. He traded my doubt for the living truth. He showed me his face; Restored my faith. He showed me his wounds; Traded my doubt for the living truth! There is an empty tomb!
