Maintaining a broken heart is essential for anyone who desires to walk faithfully with God to the end. A broken and contrite heart is humble, teachable, repentant, and completely surrendered to the will of God. It recognizes its dependence on God and is willing to receive correction, forsake sin, forgive others, and continually obey His Word. As we continue in the Christian journey, pride, offenses, trials, success, and the cares of this world can gradually harden the heart. Therefore, we must continually examine ourselves, remain prayerful, respond quickly to conviction, and allow God to shape our character. God values a tender and contrite heart. “A broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.” — Psalm 51:17 Maintaining such a heart helps us remain close to God, grow in holiness, endure trials, and faithfully follow Christ until the end. Do not allow your heart to become hardened. Stay humble, surrendered, obedient, and sensitive to God as you prepare for eternity.
