An intrapelvic approach that gives direct access to the quadrilateral plate, the pelvic brim and the anterior column through a lower midline or Pfannenstiel incision. Typical indications: anterior column, anterior column-posterior hemitransverse and quadrilateral plate fractures, especially in elderly patients. Structures at risk: corona mortis, external iliac vessels, obturator neurovascular bundle and the bladder.
