Good evening welcome to this time of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament followed by the celebaration of Our Holy Mass and ending with the Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help for Wednesday of the 30th Week in Ordinary Time. Today we celebrate the Feast of St. Simon and St. Jude, Apostles and Martyrs. As we celebrate the Feast of Saints Simon and Jude, our readings take on the theme of evangelization. In our Gospel, Jesus spends the night in prayer before choosing twelve of his disciples to become His apostles. He did not make the decision lightly but spent time in prayer with His Father in heaven. Once again, we see that Jesus does not 'behave' as the world behaves but rather chose twelve apostles who were not of the upper class. He looked to their potential and the grace that would be given to them to carry out His mission. Our reading from Ephesians moves the people from being strangers to being citizens of the family of God. They are no longer orphans but part of a community with Jesus Christ as the cornerstone. They are reminded that they are living stones joined together through the person of Jesus and the gift of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Jesus is our cornerstone as well. Do we rely on Him when we have decisions to make? In our Gospel, the crowd pressed forward to touch Jesus. What heavy burden do you need to bring to Jesus for healing? Finally our Psalm sums it all up with the reminder that we are to go out to the world and spread the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ. Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Our Responsorial Psalm today is from Psalm 19: " Their message goes out through all the earth".
