In this skill builder tutorial I will show you how to sew a crossbody strap using vinyl. For straps sewn with woven material please refer to this video:    • Adjustable Crossbody Bag Strap - Full Step...   You will need 2 swivel hooks and an adjustable slider in your desired strap width. A larger mouthed slider is recommended. The hardware size refers to the interior width. Your starting vinyl should be equal in width to four times your hardware size, for example, 4” wide for 1” hardware, 3” wide for 3/4” hardware, 6” wide for 1.5” hardware. I strongly suggest some form of stabilizer to reduce the likelihood of your strap stretching with use, I am using grosgrain ribbon. The length of the strap will vary based on manner of wear and personal preference, for reference I cut my straps to 55-60" long. Strap widths (inner diameter x 4) for different hardware sizes will be as follows: 1/2" swivel clasp = 2" wide (4 times 1/2) 5/8" swivel clasp = 2.5" wide (4 times 5/8) 3/4" swivel clasp = 3" wide (4 times 3/4) 1" swivel clasp = 4" wide (4 times 1) 1.5” swivel clasp = 6” wide (4 times 1.5) 00:00 Intro 01:09 Cutting your vinyl 02:30 Joining two pieces of vinyl to minimize bulk 06:24 Preparing your strap 10:58 Tips for sewing your strap 17:59 Building your strap 19:19 Applying clamp-style strap ends 20:41 Applying screw-on strap ends 21:58 Placing rivets
