This shows the way the blessing is given in the 1662 liturgy, when the consecrated elements are still on the Holy Table:
"He then inclines, steps a little to the north of the midst of the altar, and turns to the people to say the blessing, his left hand still resting on the altar. He says the Pax, facing the people, raising his right hand to the level of his face,—all the fingers (except the first) being straight out and joined—till ‘Amen.’ "
