Some landscapes reveal themselves slowly. At Higger Tor, the reward came in the final light of the day. This cinematic journey follows a walk across the open moorland of the Peak District, through purple heather and among weathered gritstone boulders, towards one of the area’s most distinctive landmarks. As the sun begins to fall, the character of the landscape changes. Hard daylight gives way to warmer tones, long shadows and a quieter atmosphere. I find my composition among the rocks, set up the camera and wait for the moment when the light, land and sky finally come together. The film ends with the photograph I came here to create — Higger Tor framed by ancient gritstone, flowering heather and the fading colours of the evening sky. For me, landscape photography is never only about the final image. It is about the walk, the changing light, the waiting and being present when an ordinary moment briefly becomes something extraordinary.
