You’ve Been Taught the Wrong Thing About the Holy Spirit’s Conviction

What does it really mean when the Holy Spirit convicts us? In John 16:7–14, Jesus explains that the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment but that conviction is very different from shame, guilt, and condemnation. The Holy Spirit is our Advocate, not our accuser. He points us back to Jesus, reminds us when we are not trusting God, and leads us into truth.
