🛣️ Burned, abandoned, blown up by Hollywood, and brought back to life! Along a lonely stretch of historic Route 66 between Kingman and Oatman, Arizona, sits Cool Springs Station — a legendary roadside landmark with an incredible story of survival. Built in the 1920s at the foot of the rugged Black Mountains, Cool Springs once welcomed travelers preparing to tackle the steep grades and dangerous hairpin turns of Sitgreaves Pass. During its glory days, the Walker family operated the station, offering gasoline, tourist cabins, home-cooked meals, and a much-needed resting place for motorists traveling America's Mother Road. The station later became known for Floyd Spidell's famous chicken dinners. But everything changed in 1952 when Route 66 was realigned through Yucca, bypassing Cool Springs and Oatman. Traffic disappeared, business declined, and in 1966, a devastating fire left the station in ruins. Decades later, the abandoned site even became a filming location for the 1992 action movie Universal Soldier, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren. Just when it seemed Cool Springs would be lost forever, a remarkable restoration brought this historic landmark back to life. 🎬 Join Hidden History America as we explore the rise, fall, and rebirth of Cool Springs Station through vintage photographs, historical storytelling, and original drone footage of Arizona's breathtaking Route 66. 📍 Location: Cool Springs Station, Historic Route 66, between Kingman and Oatman, Arizona. 👍 Enjoyed this video?
