Summary fields perform a special type of calculation very different than Calculation fields. Rather than calculating within or from the context of the current record, Summary fields look at the entire found set of records and either total them, average them, count them, or whichever summary function you choose. Placed in a Summary part type on a layout, Summary fields become even more interesting. In this session, we will look at how to use Summary fields in Grand Summary and Subsummary parts on layouts to create sophisticated reports of our FileMaker data, including an invoice layout.
