ACT III — First Light is an 18-song journey through awakening, transformation, gratitude, healing, community, and release. Drawing inspiration from ancient Vedic hymns and philosophical ideas, each song explores a different dimension of the experience—from the inner fire of Agni and the mystery of Nasadiya to the radiance of Surya, the unity of Purusha, the boundlessness of Aditi and the unresolved peace of Shanti. 🐎 *Who are the Ashvins?* The Ashvins are the **divine twins of the Vedic tradition**, often portrayed as youthful horsemen who travel in a swift chariot. They are associated with the final darkness before dawn and frequently appear alongside **Ushas, the goddess of dawn**. They are also renowned as healers, rescuers and physicians of the gods. The hymns of the Rig Veda are filled with stories of their interventions. The Ashvins *restore sight, rescue people from wells and the sea, restore health and strength, and come to the aid of people in desperate circumstances**. One famous story tells of the warrior Vishpala, who loses a leg in battle and is given an **iron leg* by the Ashvins so that she can return to the fight. Their timing is especially meaningful. The Ashvins travel during that uncertain threshold when **night is ending and dawn has not yet fully arrived**. They are the help that comes while darkness still surrounds you. For a Western listener, the Ashvins can represent something immediately recognizable: **the person who appears when you genuinely need someone**. At Black Rock City, that might be a medical responder helping someone in distress. It might be the friend who somehow finds you when you are lost, the stranger who notices you need water, or the person who stops what they are doing because another human being needs help. That is the inspiration for this song.
