Durand Railroad Days Action (5/17/25)

5/17/25's action took place at Durand Railroad Days (a 3 day festival that Durand does every year), I was able to make it to the Saturday one where I stayed all day beginning at 6:15am (sunrise) to 8:15pm (approx. 45 minutes before sunset). In those 14 hours, I caught 16 total trains (new record for me!). Beginning my day with A491, after Amtrak P365 departed, Z149 came slow ordered to meet with Z148 (rare occurnce of Z148 during the day (usually comes overnight), followed by M301 and L501 (no meet for those 2). Around 11:30am, more railfanners showed up and watched M396 (with CN 8898 HU trailing 3rd). Other trains came throughout the day were E271, E251 (with UP leading and nice horn salute), A492, a late Q122, L508, and B730. I decided to follow some other railfans to Gaines (4 miles SE of Durand) to catch L507, after L507 I went out to Vernon Rd (CN Vernon control point is located and 3 miles West of Durand) to catch X491 as this would be my last train for the day. Overall, my experience at Durand Railroad Days went great (- the weather was not cooperating as it rained on and off, cold temperatures (50°'s + wind)). Hopefully next year or my next long day trip to Durand would be nice and sunny! Enjoy!
