Out in the open sea, Bowser Jr. releases a swarm of mini Bloopers to block the path. Mario quickly eats an Ice Flower, freezing the squid enemies into stepping stones to propel himself forward! Infuriated by Mario's lead, Bowser Jr. engages a supercharged booster on his turtle float, rocket-launching ahead at dangerous speeds. But the excessive speed causes the float to spin out of control, crashing into a treacherous whirlpool and exploding! Deprived of his float and weighed down by his heavy shell, a terrified Bowser Jr. loses his Magic Paintbrush and begins to sink beneath the waves. Mario is only meters away from crossing the finish line in first place, but hearing Bowser Jr.'s desperate cries for help, he turns around without a second thought! Eating a Frog Suit, Mario transforms into an aquatic speedster, diving headfirst into the raging whirlpool. Swimming like lightning, he catches Bowser Jr.'s hand just in the nick of time! Mario pulls the young Koopa prince safely to shore, where a panicked Bowser rushes over to embrace his son, sighing with relief that he is safe. Overwhelmed with gratitude and shame, Bowser Jr. tearfully apologizes for his dirty tricks and thanks Mario for saving his life.
