I Turned “Strawberry Fields Forever” Into Bedroom Pop

How would John Lennon have recorded “Strawberry Fields Forever” if he were a bedroom pop producer in 2026? In this video, I attempt to recreate one of The Beatles’ most ambitious recordings using a completely different approach: a Tascam Portastudio, cassette tape, modern bedroom-pop production techniques, and a fully analog recording setup. “Strawberry Fields Forever” is famous for its experimental production, tape manipulation, layered instruments, Mellotron, orchestration, and two different takes being spliced together. So instead of trying to make a perfect note-for-note reproduction, I’m taking the original recording as a blueprint and seeing what happens when I turn it into a lo-fi bedroom pop song recorded on cassette.
