Need to design a simple, symmetrical 3D print but keep messing up your center of gravity or hole placements? In this tutorial, we will master the Extrude and Hole tools in PTC Creo to build a perfectly balanced 3D model. We will practice these core parametric modeling skills by designing a fully 3D printable 2-Sided Dice Toy.
In this tutorial, you will learn:
• The Extrude Tool: Setting up datums and using the Center Rectangle sketch tool to keep your part perfectly symmetrical.
• Parametric Editing: How to go back into the Model Tree to fix mistakes or edit feature definitions (like hole depth) on the fly.
• The Hole Tool: Placing and dimensioning standard holes completely through your model.
• Dimension Patterns: Using negative values to pattern holes symmetrically across a center axis without recreating the geometry.
• The Round Tool: Holding the control key to select multiple edges and apply comfortable fillets for handheld 3D prints.
