Here are three of Waste Management - San Gabriel's oldest trucks in the fleet. With the last remaining Volvo scrapped in April, these Mack LE Wittkes are the oldest garbage trucks we have aside from the ancient scout trucks. (0:00) - 263266: I saw in the morning while at the shop that Mike's regular truck was being serviced, and later in the day, he came into the yard in 266, so after work, I drove around his route hoping to find him. The truck was having some problems throughout the day, so Mike was running a little behind. I grabbed a couple clips then headed home. WM switched out the Curotto on this truck recently. I don't really mind since I haven't seen one of the Curotto Can I's in green for a while. 266 just got new heads put in earlier this week, so this was its first time out on route in a while. (1:43) - 263268 - Last month, after a car show, I was able to stop by Baldwin Park and found Rosendo Pimienta on route in this older Wittke. There's a whole other story to Pimi, but he will have his own video soon hopefully. Really cool guy whose weekly route is very interesting. On Mondays and Tuesdays, he's in Diamond Bar running the McNeilus RL. On Wednesdays, he does bulk in Arcadia, and on Fridays, he does recycling in this Wittke. On this day that I filmed him, we were talking about his days at Newco and he told me he was filmed as part of the movie "Garbage Day" and is actually the swamper on that old Newco FL on green waste! So I thought that was really cool. Anyway, this is another old Wittke I filmed a couple years ago. They still haven't put new logos on. Sounds and runs very nicely, so that's always good. Pimienta is one of those drivers who follows every rule down to a T (which is a good thing), so you'll see him go out of his way to close lids. Oh, and yes, Pimienta was the driver of the Stagg MSL when Mike, Jared, and Bryn went to film it :-) (12:01) - 263264: Here is a quick clip of Enrique Bueno and Lao doing the bulk route just as Pimienta finished. Thanks to all the awesome drivers for their service to Waste Management and the City of Baldwin Park!
