In this video, I go over Jonathan Rauch’s book Cross Purposes and his mind-blowing argument about how Latter-day Saints may help protect the Constitution. Rauch is liberal, gay, atheist, Jewish, and a scholar who writes about democracy and constitutional government. He is not a Latter-day Saint, but he praises President Oaks, the Church’s work on religious freedom, and the way our faith can help America in a time of political anger and division. I share his thoughts from the book, but I also noticed a lot of extra things about our faith that he does not fully get into.
