Broken Axe Pinnacles, Tararua Forest Park, New Zealand 2014/11/23

Another great Tararua run. Starting at Holdsworth road end, we ran the cruisy track to Atiwhakatu hut, then the very steep track up 1000m to Mt Jumbo. From there, along the ridges via Mt McGregor, the Broken Axe Pinnacles, Mt Baldy then descended back down into the Atiwhakatu valley and back out to Holdsworth road end. 31km total, in about 6.5 hours. This video is just of footage from above the treeline from Jumbo to Baldy. Conditions were pretty much perfect by Tararua standards. A tough but rewarding run, with the Pinnacles providing some high-adrenaline moments.
