In the previous part of this game, I had just defeated Specter, again. Even managed to capture him. As such, the world was saved, and twins Kei & Yumi were honored as heroes. But, alas... if you know anything about these Ape Escape games at this point, you'll realize very quickly that the story didn't actually end, here. And this time, there's a real X-Factor of a reason for it... MONKEY PINK! SHE'S BACK! As you may remember, her fight was the only Freaky Monkey Five battle in this game where your twin DIDN'T manage to catch the Freak. Pink got away, and now she's finally unleashed her revenge! Pink managed to free Specter and the rest of her Freaky friends. So now they're causing all sorts of monkey mayhem all over the world again, alongside any other monkeys they've managed to release. Natalie was severely caught offguard by this. Her lab got totaled, and it seemed like Spike, Jimmy, and even the Professor, her grandfather, were somehow out of commission, again. So then... Natalie embarrassingly had to ask for the help of Aki's family, again, and they were not amused... ---------- When you start from there, Aki will inform you of a fantastic new minigame called "Mesal Gear Solid". I should probably cover that, sometime. In the meantime, notice the level select, now. All of the Freaky Monkey Five are available for rematches, but moreso, the regular levels. The monkeys you caught will remain captured, but it looks like the total number of them in each level have actually INCREASED! Select anyone of them for a revisit, and Aki will tell you why. She's got one last "special" Morph Gear for you: The Super Monkey Gear! It's a really silly morph, because it just puts your kid in a giant monkey suit. This is your disguise to help you approach monkeys more closely, as long as you don't do anything wild like jumping at them. You can wave at them, or even dance with them in this form. "OOKIE-OOKIE!!!" But the Super Monkey's main purpose is to allow you to smell out banana odors. Knock on a wall that the banana scent is wafting out from, and it will turn out to be a secret door to a dressing room, where new monkeys will be waiting to get captured by you. These monkeys are why the totals went up in every regular level. You'll know you'll be able to seek out a dressing room when a banana icon appears next to you while you're a Super Monkey. You can even aim at its location with the Monkey Radar, but it will also be staged as being in a different area within the level that you'll load to. If you never get a banana icon, you'll have to go search out a different segment of the level, then. The only attack you can use in this form is the Hip Drop/Ground Pound. It's still good for attacking enemies and breaking crates, but you're probably better off using something else to do this more elegantly. Lastly, compared to all other Morph Gears only lasting 30 seconds per stock, the Super Monkey can last up to 10 minutes per stock. So it's basically unlimited. In conclusion, THIS... is your replacement of the Magic Punch. Use this form in every previous stage to help you catch every single last Monkey that you can through this entire game! ---------- So then I start out with the first level again: Seaside Resort. I had only visited every level once in this playhrough. This isn't just about using the Super Monkey form to find those new hidden monkeys, but to see what other Gadgets can work to help me find these apes. For example, this level has a Monkey hanging from a helicopter. There's no way I'm gonna reach it unless I can shoot it down with the Slingback Shooter, which I did not have when I first started this stage. This also means that there may be more Pipo Cameras to find and use in these second trips, which means more silly films to watch in the Simian Cinema. ---------- On a first trip, getting a certain number of Monkeys has you "Clear" that level, but if you got every last one of them, you'll then "Complete" that level. This will unlock the ability to replay that level's Monkey roster in Free Play Mode, which means you can catch them all over again at your own leisure, and is moreso your last option to still catch more Pipo Camera clips if you've missed any in previous trips.
