Medicare AEP 2027: What can you change during Annual Enrollment, and what changes might you NOT be able to make? Medicare's Annual Election Period runs from October 15 through December 7. During this time, you can change Medicare Advantage plans, review your Part D prescription drug coverage, or leave Medicare Advantage and return to Original Medicare. But here's something many people don't realize: Just because you can leave Medicare Advantage doesn't mean you're guaranteed to qualify for a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan. And that distinction can become incredibly important when your health changes. In this episode of Coffee with Casey, I explain what you can and can't change during Medicare AEP 2027, why Medicare Advantage plan terminations are different from benefit reductions, and how your health can affect your future Medicare coverage options. We'll also look at two real-world examples. Steve needed specialized care at Mayo Clinic, but his Medicare Advantage plan wasn't accepted. By the time he wanted to switch to a Medicare Supplement, his health made qualifying difficult. Jane was dealing with cancer treatments, rising out-of-pocket costs, prior authorizations, and doctors leaving her network. But because her Medicare Advantage plan was still being offered, those changes didn't automatically give her guaranteed-issue rights. These stories illustrate why Medicare planning should be about more than premiums, dental benefits, or gym memberships. In this video, you'll learn: What you can change during Medicare AEP 2027 Why AEP is NOT a Medicare Supplement Open Enrollment Period When Medicare Advantage plan termination may create Medigap guaranteed-issue rights Why reduced benefits or higher costs don't automatically qualify you for a Medicare Supplement How medical underwriting can affect your ability to switch coverage Why your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) matters What Medicare Supplement policyholders should review during AEP How to protect your healthcare choices for the future My philosophy has always been Freedom First. The question isn't simply, "Which Medicare plan looks best today?" It's, "How do I want my healthcare to work five, ten, or fifteen years from now?" You may not need to change anything this year. But you should understand your options before making that decision. Need help reviewing your Medicare options? Visit https://MedicareMedicare.com to connect with our team.
