A crucian carp glides, the sky glimmers, And the silver moon sleeps inside the mist. Silver scales, trembling scales, Under the stars, above the waters. The little carp flutters upward, Through the cloud‑dark, shadowed skin of night. The moon shines, the moon is gentle, Like gold poured from a river at dusk. They nibble, nibble the golden bread, Fish tasting the heavens’ breath. Blue night, woven night, Golden frost on the frozen ground. The carp leaps into the fog, And the moon drifts into the fishes’ dream.
