My reaction to Rear Window (1954)!
I'm back with another Alfred Hitchcock classic! After having such a fantastic time with North by Northwest, I've been looking forward to discovering more of Hitchcock's filmography, and Rear Window has been high on my list. A murder mystery told almost entirely from the perspective of one apartment? I'm intrigued!
Set during a sweltering New York summer, Rear Window follows professional photographer L.B. "Jeff" Jefferies, who's confined to his apartment with a broken leg. With little to do but watch his neighbours through the rear window, Jeff becomes increasingly fascinated by the private lives unfolding across the courtyard. But when he begins to suspect that one of his neighbours may have murdered his wife, his harmless pastime turns into a dangerous obsession.
Directed by Alfred Hitchcock and written by John Michael Hayes, based on Cornell Woolrich's short story It Had to Be Murder, Rear Window stars James Stewart as L.B. Jefferies, Grace Kelly as Lisa Fremont, Thelma Ritter as Stella, Wendell Corey as Detective Tom Doyle, and Raymond Burr as Lars Thorwald.
