I was long overdue for a revisit to these! Four Seagate's tower elevators are truly the rarest of the rare, the very last of their kind in North America. These are essentially 1980s European-spec Schindlers, complete with a Miconic V controller and touch-sensitive M-Series fixtures; they're one of just a few examples (and, to my knowledge, the last still original) of these installed in the U.S. by Schindler Haughton. Even now, years after I discovered these, they're still in breathtaking condition, both visually and operationally: they run smoothly enough to give any modern MRL (especially the cheap stuff Schindler's building now) a run for its money. After two recent changes of ownership, they're now unlocked up to the 10th floor, so their (admittedly cool) access control system is thankfully no longer a barrier to a fun ride.
In all my years of filming elevators, these are, without a doubt, the best elevators I've ever had the fortune to discover. I'm glad they're still original and well-maintained, and that so many other elevator enthusiasts have since had the chance to ride them. In my opinion, these are some of the most unique and interesting elevators in the Midwest: so if you're ever in the Toledo area during the week, they're well worth a visit.
