Last ever ITV Nightly News, plus London Tonight (19/1/2001)

Bill Clinton's final day in office, and also ITV's final Nightly News bulletin with Dermot Murnaghan before News at Ten and Trevor McDonald were restored to their rightful positions. Top stories are the admission of lying about the Monica Lewinsky affair, Alan and Judith Kilshaw losing custody of the baby twins they had 'bought' online, and Paul Burrell being released on bail having been suspected of theft. I'm pretty sure this must be from Friday, 19th January, 2001, or am I somehow a day out? Other things to look out for include the peaceful Philippines revolution, Huntingdon Life Sciences struggling to stay afloat, Tim Henman winning, both the national and local weather, a full LWT ad break, and a complete London Tonight local bulletin. Stories in that last one range from a drunk driver being jailed to a UFO being caught by a camcorder, while don't miss the promos for London's Burning (not according to John Hammond), Restaurants from Hell, Pop Stars, Blind Date, An Audience with Des O'Connor, and more, plus the aforementioned News at Ten. The look at the newspapers was utterly depressing with the scandalous muck-raking of the Kilshaws, who - whatever you think of them or their actions - seemed to break no British or American laws, yet lost everything.
