Welcome to Sara-ye Nou, an authentic urban caravanserai nestled in the historic grand bazaar of Hamedan, Iran. Dating back to the late Qajar and early Pahlavi eras, this two-story architectural landmark was officially registered as a National Heritage site of Iran in March 2009 (Registration No. 25125). Sara-ye Nou stands as a prime example of traditional Iranian commercial architecture, characterized by its central open courtyard, symmetrical two-story chambers (Hojreh), and intricate vaulted brick corridors that connect it to the surrounding bazaar network. In this documentary walk, we explore the living heritage of the caravanserai during an open community event organized by the "Safiran-e Bazaar" cultural initiative (Instagram:@safiranbazar), dedicated to raising public awareness and revitalizing Hamedan’s historical bazaar heritage. Featured Highlights in this Video: • The Architectural Layout: Symmetrical brick archways, vaulted and covered corridors, and the functional transition between wholesale storage and retail trades. • Historical Qajar Endowment Decree (1918 / 1336 AH): A close look at a rare century-old legal document and endowment ruling donated by Mr. Manouchehr Hejran, featuring official rulings and authentic wax and ink seals from old Hamedan. • Traditional Commerce & Daily Life: The vibrant atmosphere of local trades, spice merchants, traditional crafts, and leatherwork that continue to breathe life into these historic brick walls. • Neighboring Caravanserais: Exploring the spatial context and corridors connecting Sara-ye Nou with Sara-ye Ghalamdani and other historic sectors of Hamedan's Grand Bazaar. 00:00 - Intro 00:14 - Entering Sara-ye Nou 01:16 - Walking along the wooden balcony 02:42 - View over the spice merchants' vaulted passage 03:22 - Continuing the path 03:53 - A look at the woodturning workshop (Kharati) 04:58 - Walking along the opposite wooden balcony 07:21 - Visiting the leatherworking workshop 10:58 - Passing through the spice merchants' vaulted passage 📍 Location: Sara-ye Nou, Historic Grand Bazaar, Hamedan, Iran.
