Honouring the 70th Anniversaries of NIOH and SU FMHS

Seventy years ago, two institutions began work that would shape the protection of worker health in South Africa: the National Institute for Occupational Health and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Stellenbosch University. SASOM invites the occupational health community to mark both milestones together. This is not only a commemoration. Alongside reflections on seven decades of progress, the programme brings together national and international perspectives on where the discipline stands today, and closes with a forward-looking panel asking what South African occupational health should look like in 2050 — a conversation that deliberately includes the voices of the specialists who will still be practising then.
