In this insightful video, we delve into the Systemic Withdrawal Plan (SWP), a topic many view as a crucial income-generating tool. However, before relying on SWP, it is vital to understand the inherent and often hidden risks involved. What is SWP and How is it Different? We first clarify a common misconception: SWP is not a product; it is merely a withdrawal mechanism. Unlike an SIP (Systematic Investment Plan), where a fixed amount is invested monthly, SWP is the exact opposite. It involves automatically withdrawing a fixed sum of money on a specific date every month from a mutual fund. We also cover related mutual fund transaction methods, including Lumpsum investment, SIP, Switch (one-time transfer between funds), and STP (Systematic Transfer Plan – recurring transfer between funds). A key advantage of SWP is that it is flexible and can be activated in any type of mutual fund (Mid-cap, Large-cap, Small-cap, Thematic, or Debt-based). The Hidden Risks: Why the 12% Rule Fails Many investors mistakenly believe that if they invest ₹1 Crore and assume a guaranteed 12% annual return, they can safely redeem ₹1 Lakh per month. This strategy is extremely risky, and the capital will be wiped out "in no time". We demonstrate why high redemptions fail, especially considering inflation, which can easily increase expenses by 6% annually. If you are depending on SWP for financial freedom, your capital must appreciate to mitigate the rising cost of living. Based on historical data and various case scenarios, we prove that relying on a steady 12% fixed return leads to funds being depleted in just 11 years. Even in better-performing positive sequences, funds might run out within 20 years. To sustain a monthly withdrawal of ₹1 Lakh (adjusted for 6% annual inflation) over a long period (like 30 years), an investment of ₹2 Crore is required, targeting an annual 6% withdrawal rate. The Challenge of Market Volatility SWP calculators often show optimistic results based only on "bull case scenarios" (assuming a steady 12% return). However, market history confirms that consolidation phases often last much longer than major bull rallies. We highlight historical periods of negative sequences: • 2007 to 2014: Seven years of market stagnation/no returns after a 63% correction. • 2015 to 2017: Two years of consolidation (25% dip). • 2018 to 2020: Approximately two years of consolidation (35% correction). • 2021 to 2023: Two years of consolidation (18% dip). If you redeem during these weak market periods, your number of mutual fund units will deplete rapidly. Because of these market realities, SWP is considered the "most difficult mechanism" to plan, even harder than SIP or Lumpsum. The Essential Strategy: Bucketing To overcome the risks associated with SWP, active management and a specific strategy are absolutely necessary. We highly recommend the Bucketing Strategy. #swp #mutualfunds #revanthchalamala #passiveincome #financialplanning #sipvslumpsum #systematicwithdrawalplan #investingforbeginners #personalfinance SWP: How to Earn Monthly Income from Mutual Funds | The Hidden Risks of SWP | Revanth Chalamala Best SWP Strategy for 2025 | Monthly Income from Mutual Funds | Bucket Strategy | Revanth Chalamala How to Get Regular Income After Retirement Using SWP | Systematic Withdrawal Plan | Revanth -- #revanthchalamala #WealthBuilding #stockmarket #StockMarketNews #StockMarketTips #investmentplanning #InvestingForBeginners #sensex #nifty Welcome to Revantha Chalamala’s Official YouTube Channel – Your Trusted Source for Finance, Stock Market Insights & Wealth Management.
